Currently, we are looking for a candidate for the position of Programme and Project Services Manager supporting UK CMB Transformation. UK CMB Transformation is at the centre of shaping, delivering, and embedding change and executing against UK CMB’s strategic change agenda, working with the business and our delivery partners. We act as trusted partners, add value, and provide insight driven data across Portfolios, Programmes and Projects.


What you’ll do

Support a Programme Director and PMO Manager in successfully delivering a new or in-flight portfolio/ programme, working at PMO Analyst level. Key activities include:

  • Collaborating closely with the programme team, support PMO activities including planning, risk/ issue/ dependency/ milestone management, status and governance reporting and resource management. Ensure programme compliance with governance procedures and MI quality standards
  • Support effective change control within the programme and at the interface with the wider portfolio. Assess project change requests, considering their implications for scope, benefits, cost, timeline, resource and dependencies
  • Track and report financial metrics; build and implement budget control to manage costs and spend against forecast. Manage purchase orders
  • Collect, analyse and report comprehensive and accurate MI. Prepare programme and financial reporting and meeting papers to support governance and enable effective leadership decision-making
  • Ensure programme documentation and records are maintained and updated timely across systems
  • Develop an effective working relationship with programme and wider portfolio stakeholders at all levels, supporting accurate, consistent, and timely reporting
  • Organise and facilitate team events, e.g. governance meetings, quarterly planning and progress review meetings, town halls or ad hoc events
  • Assist with other programme PMO activities as and when required


What you need to have to succeed in this role

  • 5 years of experience as a PMO with at least 3 years working on complex programme/ projects across countries or regions
  • Understanding of the Programme and Project lifecycle; including working knowledge of standard Waterfall and Agile Project Management methodologies, PMO processes and best practice. Knowledge and/ or experience of HSBC’s Change Framework or PMP/ MSP certification would be an advantage
  • Strong knowledge of business change – functionally, operationally, and financially
  • Experience of tracking and reporting financial metrics to manage costs and spend against forecast and provide reporting at programme and portfolio level
  • Good financial and commercial acumen and the ability to understand and contribute to business cases. Includes the ability to appreciate complex business problems and apply commercial sense
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, proposing solutions when escalating
  • A client-centric mindset with the ability to synthesize and present complex information across a diverse portfolio of change
  • Ability to work independently and proactively, confidence to provide check and challenge where appropriate
  • Experience of working in a geographically dispersed team, including running meetings in English over videoconference
