Location: Krakow


Group Risk Strategy (GRS) & Macroeconomic Risk team stewards the Banks risk appetite to comply with risk, business and regulatory priorities, and seeks to strengthen the risk culture within the organisation. This role reports into the Risk Governance, Regulatory Engagement and Reporting Strategy team. This team exists to ensure an effective Risk Governance, Reporting and Regulatory Engagement framework and strategy is in place to support the Group Chief Risk and Compliance Officer (GCRCO) and Group Risk and Compliance Function to deliver against strategic objectives, and where appropriate evidence the discharge of Senior Managers Regime (SMR) responsibilities. The team acts as credible trusted advisors to the GCRCO, and as an effective conduit with other Group functions working effectively with senior stakeholders. The role holder will have primary responsibility for Risk Governance as part of the Regulatory Engagement and Reporting Strategy team


Main Duties 


  • Support Risk and Compliance governance activities for both executive and non-executive committees; assisting with agenda preparation, providing effective review and constructive challenge of governance papers, and governance pack production.
  • Ability to engage with a range of complex information and issues arising across multiple risk types, and to understand and synthesise the key issues at a group level for senior audiences.
  • Support senior management with the preparation of detailed briefings for the GCRCO; ensuring that products are of high-quality and are delivered on time.
  • Proactively track and monitor management actions from senior governance committees.
  • Provide efficient, high-quality and timely administrative assistance to the Governance team; preparing briefing templates, committee support both pre-and-post meetings, and ongoing management of the governance runway and calendar to support senior management.
  • Liaise with senior stakeholders across Risk and Compliance and the wider Group in support of key executive governance committees.
  • Work with Global Lines of Business, Global Functions and DBS as required to complete reporting products for senior committees to tight timescales.



Requirements:


  • Familiarity with the Group’s Risk Management Framework (RMF) and working knowledge across all risk types, which is sufficient to engage with risk stewards as needed. Deeper expertise of one or more risk types is preferred, but not essential.
  • Experience in the development of executive papers and briefings, with the ability to support senior management to shape content and messaging.
  • Sound understanding of HSBC governance frameworks, experience in preparing management information / committee / governance papers desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to grasp technical and complex issues (e.g. prudential risk matters) even where not an SME. Excellent written and wider communications skills; able to prepare accurate and high-quality products, summarise technical and complex subjects for senior audiences, and build effective working relationships across the organisation to deliver outcomes.
  • Able to work confidently in a changing environment with unpredictable and varied deliverables; ability to multitask and reprioritise activities accordingly and at speed.
  • ‘Can Do’ attitude with a strong focus on getting things done; ability to work autonomously, and under pressure with time sensitive deadlines.
