Summary of Responsibility

The Front End Developer (FED) plays a crucial role at Finalsite by coding responsive websites for our clients. The FED collaborates closely with designers and project managers on a variety of projects including those of large scale and complexity, with minimal supervision. They excel at working within project constraints, including client goals, accessibility guidelines, branding requirements, technical considerations, project budget, and timeline. 

Essential functions, duties and responsibilities:

  • Produce responsive websites from supplied design files in Finalsite’s content management system using standardized HTML markup, Sass, and Javascript
  • Collaborate with designers and project managers to ensure proposed designs can be completed within project scope and on time
  • Effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical colleagues to improve understanding and collaboration.
  • Work within the Finalsite platform to maintain and post content, data, images and files
  • Implement coding fixes, changes, and additions to existing/live sites with attention to detail and sensitivity to the goals and priorities of client site owners
  • Conduct thorough testing of sites across browsers, platforms, and devices to identify and fix scripting and display errors in partnership with QA team members
  • Keep up-to-date with evolving web standards to ensure adherence and leverage the latest best practices. 

Qualifications and Skills: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development or a related field. Relevant work experience may substitute.
  • 2-4 years of experience in front end development and hand-coding  HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with responsive web design, with coding to accessibility requirements as outlined by WCAG, with JavaScript/jQuery, with using Git for source code control and with the following technologies: Sass, AJAX, JSON, Gulp/webpack, web fonts, font icons
  • Possess an eye for design & interest in visual and/or interaction design
  • Familiarity with usability and user experience design
  • Proficiency converting design concepts into page templates within a Content Management System
  • Proficiency in hand-coding HTML, CSS, & JavaScript
  • Experience with responsive web design
