In order to enhance our strategic business expansion, we are seeking a Utilities Design Engineer with a sharp and analytical mindset.
How the ideal candidate would look like?
- 2-3 years relevant experience in the mechanical utilities sector, including suitable involvement in major projects
- BSc / BEng / BTech Mechanical Engineering
- Knowledge of contracting formats and implementation thereof
- Strong people skills with the ability to cooperate and collaborate in multi-disciplinary teams
- Project Management experience will be an advantage
- Excellent application of appropriate engineering fundamentals
- Ability to function autonomously and to self-initiate the development of technical skills and competencies
- Excellent communication skills, both written and direct one-on-one
- Engineering management and coordination skills
- Ability to lead and/or implement multiple projects simultaneously
- Willingness to travel occasionally for project assignments
What are the responsibilities?
- Design and deliver customised mechanical utilities engineering solutions for Industrial clients, which are fit for purpose and appropriate to the client’s expectations.
- Manage projects and project teams, solve complex problems with minimal guidance using recognised procedures.
- Fulfil the role of Utilities Design Engineer, requiring strong and aligned technical skills and competencies, including the ability to translate engineering fundamentals into practical application.
- Relevant fields of engineering include but are not limited to:
- Steam raising and heating
- Water system hydraulics and pre-treatment
- Compressed air
- CO2 collection, purification, liquefaction, storage and distribution
- Appreciation for supporting fields of engineering, such as electrical and structural engineering
- Perform technical plant assessments and audits, and generate appropriate reports.
- Support the Industrial business strategy including project management, team development, quality management and Health & Safety management.
- Play a key role in projects delivery, including bidding processes, team coordination, financial reporting and handover.
- Contribute to business development and marketing processes, by consistently delivering successful and appropriate engineering solutions.
- Play a key role in the task of commissioning and testing project solutions.
- Secure repeat business.
- Manage and build sustainable supplier relationships.
- Be able and willing to travel domestically and internationally, as the various projects may require.
