An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Tax Consultant to join the Tax Operations team at a transformational time in both the business and the global tax landscape. The successful candidate will primarily be involved in UK tax compliance and financial reporting as well as supporting U.S. and global tax compliance and operations. The Tax Consultant will also have the chance to influence and help effect systems and process changes, including those relating to global tax initiatives, such as Pillar 1 and Pillar 2. The chosen candidate will be an integral part of the global Tax department and will work closely with other stakeholders. What is more, this position offers an exciting opportunity for occasional business trips to the UK, allowing you to engage directly with our international team and broaden your professional network

We will count on you to:
Assist with the preparation of UK corporate tax returns (CT600s) and tax computations for companies in the UK Group;
Prepare detailed tax disclosure notes under UK GAAP for the UK statutory accounts, including current tax and deferred tax P&L entries, rate reconciliations and tax balance sheet;
Help to maintain records of group attributes, such as group loss relief and corporate interest restriction for UK return purposes;
Calculate tax true-ups (return to provision adjustments) to ensure that tax balances held in the primary US GAAP ledger are accurate;
Undertake general ledger analysis to identify items of tax-sensitive income and expense (e.g. legal fees);
Prepare and review Income Tax Reporting (ASC 740) packages on a quarterly basis for US GAAP, which are reported to MMC Tax in the US for 10-Q and 10-K filings;
Prepare journal instructions to Controllership team for quarterly tax bookings in US GAAP;
Maintain a current awareness of UK tax legislation and case law that would impact compliance and reporting activities;
Assist with applications for UK and U.S. certificates of residence from HMRC, the IRS and other withholding tax-related administration;
Prepare quarterly Forms CT61 for submission to HMRC in respect of UK withholding on interest expense;
Help implement process improvements for direct taxes in the UK;
Provide support, as required, with US tax compliance and reporting activity (e.g. 5471s. federal income tax, state and local returns).
What you need to have:
2-3 years in finance or accounting performing corporate tax compliance and provisioning activities, preferably in relation to the UK;
Knowledge of UK compliance software desirable (e.g. AlphaTax);
Strong technical skills and ability/desire to develop proficiency in multiple areas of taxation;
Experience with US GAAP reporting and tax accounting (ASC 740) desirable;
Effective communication skills and ability to deal with various stakeholders;
Ability to work independently and collaboratively;
Certification preferable (e.g. chartered accountant, ACCA, tax exams)
