Tools Release Engineer (SW Engineering Tools) role at BorgWarner. This position focuses on development, integration, and maintenance of software tools used by the engineering teams to support the BorgWarner EDF (Electronics Development Framework) processes and ASPICE compliance goals.
Overview
Job Purpose: Ensures the development and integration of new software tools and the improvement or maintenance of existing tools. Uses demonstrated software tool experience and lessons learned to improve the team proficiency in applying the BorgWarner engineering development process to projects. Be a change agent to support the organizational transformation of the electrified drive systems and software teams to achieve ASPICE compliance goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyzes systems/software program requirements and develops solutions
- Collaborates with the BorgWarner IT group in establishing corporate standard tool set strategies
- Adapts the BorgWarner IT enterprise-wide tool landscape to the PDS business unit use case
- Develops and monitors systems/software process metrics to verify/validate effective usage of implemented tools
- Aligns tool selection, development and configuration to optimally meet systems/software process requirements
- Develops and maintains tool development roadmap for assigned process areas
- Confirms the compliance of tools to ISO26262 (Functional Safety) and ISO21434 (Cybersecurity) requirements
- Improves tool solutions based on lessons learned and evolving best practices
- Develops customized tool kits to meet customer-specific program requirements
- Proactively analyzes systems/software process deployments, identifies opportunities for improvement and develops solutions
- Uses demonstrated systems/software experience and lessons learned to drive engineering project teams to achieve quality goals and guides project teams in using evolving methods and tools
- Develops training curriculum and transfers knowledge of the BorgWarner EDF process, roles, and responsibilities to engineering teams
What We’re Looking For
- Demonstrated Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, or Software Quality Assurance competency
- Good written and oral communication skills and good interpersonal skills; effective working as a team member
- Experience delivering a system/software product
- Proficiency in ALM, PLM, BPM, Requirements Management, Configuration Management, Work Product Reviews, Tool Integration, Cybersecurity, or Functional Safety
- Experience in using engineering V cycle development processes
- Working knowledge of ASPICE, ISO26262 (Functional Safety), and ISO21434 (Cybersecurity)
- Process area expertise, Tool Development process, Coding standards
Additional Preferences
- Knowledge of Python/Perl scripting, Relational Databases, SQL (Oracle, PL/SQL a plus)
- Experience with data visualization/business analytics tools like Power BI/Tableau/Qlik
- CTT+ certification is a strong asset
- Agile project management experience strongly desired
- Experience with Requirements management or Application Lifecycle Management products like Polarion a plus
- Experience with SCM tools such as Plastic SCM and Git
- Experience with JIRA or other agile planning tools a plus
