Industry Context
We are seeking an experienced Test Lead with a strong background in data transformation projects within the insurance industry. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in delivering robust data quality and testing frameworks for complex insurance data ecosystems sourced from multiple systems.
Project Environment
- Lead testing efforts for a Snowflake-based data platform ingesting data from 15 diverse source systems across 4 project phases.
- Data modeling includes Staging, Data Vault architecture, and Consumption layers.
- BI reporting and dashboards are built using Power BI and Sigma for downstream consumption.
Tools & Technologies
- dbt for data build/testing and orchestration with GitHub Actions and Airflow.
- Python scripting for test automation and data validation.
- Soda Core for data quality checks.
- BDD approach using Behave for test scenarios.
- Integration with Jira (test case management) and Confluence (documentation).
- DQ Labs for advanced data profiling and monitoring.
Responsibilities
- Drive implementation and continuous refinement of the test strategy, updating as the project evolves.
- Design and execute comprehensive test plans for data ingestion, transformation, and consumption layers ensuring data completeness, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Collaborate with data engineers, developers, DevOps, analysts, stewards, and business stakeholders to define test requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Manage CI/CD pipelines integrating automated test execution via GitHub workflows.
- Provide leadership and coaching to the testing team on tools, methodologies, and best practices relevant to Snowflake and insurance data domains.
Skills & Qualifications
- Deep understanding of Snowflake data warehousing and ELT processes, including Data Vault modeling (Hub, Links, Satellites).
- Strong proficiency in SQL, Python scripting, and dbt framework for data testing and transformations.
- Experience with insurance industry data types, claim and policy systems, and regulatory compliance.
- Familiarity with modern test management and automation frameworks aligned with Agile and DevOps practices.
- Ability to adapt and optimize test strategies dynamically to meet evolving project needs.
