Tech Lead (Java), Cross-Border Payments and SWIFT Technology team

At Nordea we are committed to creating an agile environment where technology powers the financial solutions of tomorrow. As a Tech Lead Developer you will engage with many stakeholders, bring impact to our Cross-Border Payments and SWIFT area and help modernise architecture.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead development and design of business features in Nordea’s Cross-Border Payments and SWIFT Technology area.
- Implement and maintain high-quality Java code, using design patterns and modern API modules.
- Problem‑solve architecture and system modernization initiatives.
- Cooperate with cross‑functional Agile teams and stakeholders, fostering teamwork and knowledge sharing.
Who you are
- Java software developer with 8‑10+ years of experience.
- Strong communication skills and stakeholder management.
- Self‑motivated, outgoing and capable of working in a multicultural environment.
- Fluent in English; additional language skills a plus.
Your experience and background
- Deep knowledge of Mainframe frameworks (COBOL), DB2 and database skills.
- Experience building and implementing API modules and design patterns.
- Nice to have: Kafka, WebLogic, IBM MQ, SWIFT ISO20022, Splunk, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Docker, GIT.
- Experience in banking payment systems a benefit.
Location & hybrid working model
The role is based in Gdańsk/Gdynia or in Helsinki. Hybrid model – 60% on‑site, 40% remote.
