HSBC Markets & Securities Services IT (MSS IT) department provides technology solutions to support its Markets

and Securities Services business worldwide. The RIVER, FICC IT team provides world-class technology and

solutions for the global markets business. Working with global business partners, we utilize latest technology and

methodology via a fast-paced delivery to customers across Fixed Income Cash and Commodities businesses.

Therefore, we are offering you the opportunity to work with our top tier IT and business teams in the investment

banking domain.

Our platform’s multi-disciplined teams include architects, developers and business analysts. Within the team, this

Java focused role will have software engineering responsibility to build scalable and highly reliable solutions on a

microservice based distributed platform to address varied business requirements

What you’ll do

Act as Delivery manager and People Manager of the team.

Oversee project and development activities for the team, provide leadership, and mentorship at both functional and technical level. However, you will spend most of your time in hands on development activities.

Write well designed, testable and efficient code. Be involved in all stages of the SDLC.

Manage the delivery approach, build stakeholder buy-in around the delivery plan, commitments and changes.

Work with the Technology team and Product Owner to drive improvements in productivity through backlogmanagement, maturity in the use of Agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum, Kanban, Lean), and corresponding management of dependencies.

Enforce process discipline and improvements, such as disciplined agile software delivery, production support processes and continuous DevOps pipelines development.

What you need to have to succeed in this role

• 6+ years of hands-on experience in Java programming (OOP/OOD principles).
• Experience working with low-latency highly concurrent applications (performance tuning and profiling).
• 2+ years of demonstratable team management experience (tech leading and people management).
• Strong understanding of DevOps and agile development methodology.
• Solid IT development, technical design and production support working experience, with strong problem solving skills.
• Very good communication, relationship management and networking skills (internal and external).
• Experience in design and implementation of mission critical systems (exposure to scalability, high availability and performance problems)
• Ability to work in fast-paced environment with proven ability to handle multiple work streams at one time and adhere to strict timelines and deadlines.
