Cooper-Standard European Tax Manager Job Description
As a Tax Manager, you will be responsible for managing all tax activities and ensuring the tax compliance of the Cooper-Standard Europe entities. You will work closely with management to optimize cash taxes, minimize tax risks, and maximize efficiency.
Key Job Description Activities
Scope of legal entities covered by this role includes Germany, France, Poland, Czech, Romania, Serbia, Spain, Italy, UK, Netherlands, Morocco, India.
- Ensuring tax compliance in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Development and implementation of tax strategies for Europe region and also working with Global tax management on areas that cross regions.
- Advise management on tax-related issues arising and actions and improvement opportunities.
- Work with and support in-country local compliance teams on all tax matters for each Europe entity including:
- Review and support of annual CIT return filings.
- Review and support of quarterly US reporting tax packs.
- Review of VAT processes, support issues, and identify improvement opportunities.
- Review and support all other taxes and local reporting requirements for each Europe legal entity.
- Coordinate and review cash tax forecast update information.
- Transfer pricing documentation for each country, ensuring adequate and coordinate annual updates.
- Pillar 2 and new tax legislations in Europe, keep management updated, coordinate and lead actions required to meet requirements of each country.
- Tax Audits – Support all European Tax Audits and lead reviews and negotiations to achieve the best results, including relevant communications with the tax office.
- Support and coordinate external tax advisor support, monitor budget for fees.
- Identify and help implement in-source of activities from external advisors where possible to achieve cost savings and efficiencies e.g., France and Germany.
- Work closely with management and staff from Europe & other regions, including Finance, Accounting, shared service center, operations, Treasury & Tax, to ensure good and timely support on various ad hoc topics e.g., M&A, unusual transactions, dealing with old/overdue items, clean up activities, ongoing or new business needs that need tax consideration.
A successful Tax Manager should have:
- A degree in economics, law, tax, or a related field.
- Relevant tax qualification and in-depth knowledge of European tax legislation.
- Experience in managing European tax activities in a company.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Able to use SAP, FCCS, and other relevant tools.
