IKEA was founded in 1943 by Ingvar Kamprad. Our first restaurant opened in 1959 - just one year after the first IKEA store in Älmhult. Today, we operate IKEA restaurants in more than 460 stores across more than 50 markets. Every year, our restaurants, bistro, and Swedish Food Market attract over 500 million guests with our iconic products like Swedish meatballs and hot dogs. With plant balls that are also a part of the menu nowadays, we are bringing a modern taste of Sweden to the many people, worldwide.
At IKEA, we try to do things a little differently. We think differently, act differently, and work differently as well. We like to break things. Like rules. And then make things. Like music-playing lamps. And beds disguised as sofas. Even plant balls that help us look after our planet. It’s all part of our vision - to create a better everyday life for the many. By 2030, we hope to help millions more look forward to going home.
We see our suppliers as partners and work to create long-term relationships with them, helping them to grow and become more efficient while achieving affordable sustainability.
In the Category Area Food, we lead the global purchasing agenda, material direction, responsible sourcing, and food safety and quality compliance agenda for the entire food range in IKEA. With over 170 colleagues located globally across Europe, North America, Asia, and other regions, we work closely with our supplier partners.
This is one of the newest categories and we are on the journey towards the glorious future so we will most welcome your start-up entrepreneurial mindset, ability to think out of the box, your experience with process improvements, your patience to deliver tasks in the sometimes unknown and imperfect reality that you will have power and willingness to consistently improve.
You will be a part of a Plant based Category which is part of Category Area Food, which works alongside both internal and external partners to offer the food served at all IKEA Restaurants, Bistros, and Swedish Food Markets.
