HSBC Markets & Securities Services IT (MSS IT) department provides technology solutions to support its Markets and Securities Services business worldwide. The RIVER, FICC IT team provides world-class technology and solutions for the global markets business. Working with global business partners, we utilize latest technology and methodology via a fast paced delivery to customers across Fixed Income Cash and Commodities businesses. Therefore, we are offering you the opportunity to work with our top tier IT and business teams in the investment banking domain.

Our multi-disciplined team includes IT architects, developers and business analysts. Within the team, this java developer role will have software engineering responsibility to build corresponding solutions on a scalable and highly reliable platform running with distributed caching technology in a cluster of servers to address varied business requirements

What you’ll do

• Act as Delivery manager and People Manager of the team
• Oversee project and development activities for the team, provide leadership at both functional and technical level. Be hands-on whenever necessary.
• Write well designed, testable and efficient codes. Involve in deployment of the software you build.
• Managing the delivery approach, building stakeholder buy-in around the delivery plan, commitments and changes.
• Working with the Technology team and Product Owner to drive improvements in productivity through backlog management, maturity in the use of Agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum, Kanban, Lean), and corresponding management of dependencies.
• Providing management to maintain a focus on how the delivery/project aligns to wider programme objectives, where appropriate, and to the change portfolio across HSBC.
• Enforcing process discipline and improvements in areas of expertise, such as disciplined agile software delivery, production support processes and continuous DevOps pipelines development.
• Setting and Managing objectives/development plan of POD members. Challenging POD members to do incremental improvements.

What you need to have to succeed in this role

• Hands-on experience in both functional programming and Java programming, 6 years of Banking Domain background.
• Strong understanding about DevOps and agile development methodology.
• Solid IT development, technical design and production support working experience, with strong problem solving skills.
• Effective communication with other technical colleagues from global teams (UK, HK, GZ, Poland and US).
• Experienced in design and lead highly scalable and available technology solution.
• Relationship management (both internal and external) and networking skills.   
• Ability to work in fast-paced environment with proven ability to handle multiple work threads at one time.
• Ability to work effectively to strict timelines and deadlines.
