Adtran is looking for a Software Engineer who is willing to contribute to the implementation of a scalable Transport SDN network automation platform. As a Software Engineer, you will become a part of the Scrum Team, where every member has the responsibility and privilege to contribute to the architecture, design, and implementation of the network control plane applications and algorithms. The successful candidate needs to have good knowledge of object-oriented programming paradigms combined with strong Java skills. Some familiarity with modern C++ and Python is an additional asset. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and continually improving the product using new technologies, working in a SAFe framework closely with other engineers and stakeholders to ensure the product meets the needs of Adtran customers.

Responsibilities

1. Assist in the systems’ design activities
2. Implement applications in Java
3. Refactor and redesign existing software components
4. Perform unit tests and fix reported defects
5. Decompose tasks along the software construction process
6. Document the development process
7. Perform integration tests of software modules

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required

1. Good knowledge of Java 17
2. Familiarity with Spring and JUnit
3. Good knowledge of object-oriented design principles and design patterns
4. Good knowledge of LINUX/UNIX systems
5. Scientific degree in the field of computer science or similar
6. Very good English

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Nice to Have

1. Familiarity with modern C++ (C++14 or newer)
2. Knowledge of scripting programming languages (Python/BASH)
3. Familiarity with Docker
4. Work experience with GIT
5. Knowledge of IP-based networks and TCP-based applications
6. Work experience with code review and agile development techniques
