Adtran Networks in Poland is looking for a Software Engineer with strong Java and object-oriented programming skills who is willing to contribute and collaborate within a full-stack Agile development team. The Software Engineer will work closely with other local and remote engineers on development and maintenance activities centered around Optical Service Management part of Mosaic Network Controller product line which is a single automated network management platform. The primary responsibilities will be analysis, design, troubleshooting issues, task breakdown, estimation, implementation, unit testing, and code improvements. The successful candidate will have an ability to adapt and perform complex software development tasks utilizing best practices.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assist in evaluating feasibility of prioritized features
  2. Design analysis with attention to details and documentation including architecture as needed
  3. Perform coding of new components or enhancements to existing modules according to technical specifications
  4. Conduct and participate in code reviews
  5. Plan and develop unit tests and provide corrections for continuous software quality improvements
  6. Investigation and resolution of defects with analysis and refactoring for code maintainability
  7. Organize individual activities with iterative development to meet goals within schedule
  8. The qualified candidate will be committed to collaborating well within the team in order to complete all planned tasks

Basic Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent degree
  2. At least 3 years of strong experience in Java and object-oriented programming
  3. Experience in developing graphical user interfaces, APIs, data structures, algorithms, and multi-threaded applications
  4. Knowledge and experience with Java Design patterns
  5. Experience with SQL scripts and PostgreSQL or other relational databases
  6. Experience with Spring, JPA, JMS
  7. Experience with development tools IntelliJ IDE, JProfiler, JConsole, jstack
  8. Knowledge and experience with Gradle and GIT
  9. Experience with interpreting technical specification documents
  10. Experience working in an Agile Development environment
  11. A commitment to quality and a thorough approach to work
  12. Excellent English and communication skills
  13. Experience with design based on customer needs and improvement of user experience
  14. Analytical thinking providing constructive solutions
  15. Ability to maintain focus on goals while adapting to changes during development
  16. Willingness and ability to take responsibility and use ideas and proposals of other team members
  17. Self-organization with desire and ability to learn new technologies
  18. Knowledge of JavaFX, Web GUI, REST, SNMP
  19. Experience developing shell scripts in Linux
  20. Continuous integration of software with tools such as TeamCity
  21. Knowledge of networking applications, protocols, WDM devices, and OTN standards
