Around the world, the people who design, build, and operate better and more resilient infrastructure rely on software from Bentley Systems. The Bentley Mobility Simulation Division is looking for a candidate to join the team of data scientists and software engineers who use advanced software, big data, machine learning, cloud deployments, and complex data engineering to better understand the movement of people. We produce mobility data and analytics to guide investments that help to reduce travel times, environmental impacts, and social inequities and help states, cities, regions, and transit agencies better serve their communities. You will be part of our data engineering team which comprises 15 experts in Europe and the USA using your software and data skills to help build and improve our data processes, quality, and corresponding analytics.

We will rely on you for the following:

1. Design, build, and maintain efficient and reliable Spark data pipelines implemented in Scala
2. Automate data processing pipelines with Airflow (Python)
3. Work closely with other engineers to develop new datasets and procedures
4. Suggest and implement improvements on current data pipelines
5. Develop automated test plans and data quality checks
6. Research new, related technologies and contribute to evolving future generations of our pipelines

What You Bring to The Team:

1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
2. 3-5 years of experience developing data pipelines with Spark
3. Proficiency with Scala or a strong interest in learning it
4. You are conscientious about the quality of your code and the produced data
5. Experience with Python
6. Interest in Functional Programming

What would make you stand out:

1. Experience with performance optimization preferred
2. Experience with GIS is highly advantageous
3. Familiarity with mobility datasets is a plus
