Software Engineer

 

A software engineer delivers software components that form part of a product.  Individuals in this role will:​

• Develop software to meet user needs​
• Follow best practice guidelines and help to improve those guidelines​
• Write clean, secure, and well-tested code​
• Coach and mentor more junior colleagues​
• Operate the services they build and identify issues in production

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.
• 3+ years’ experience as a software engineer.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, C#, JavaScript, or others.
• Experience with frontend frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.
• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum).
• Proficiency in software design and architecture.
• Experience with version control systems like Git.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
• Familiarity with IDEs such as Visual Studio, IntelliJ IDEA, or Eclipse.
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools and practices.
• Understanding of database management and SQL.
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
• Experience with microservices architecture and RESTful API design.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks and tools.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred:

• Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Expertise in areas such as machine learning, cybersecurity, or mobile development.
• Understanding of DevOps practices and tools.
• Ability to lead and mentor junior developers.

,[Programming and Build, Collaborate with others to review user stories and code, and develop implementation approaches., Design, code, test, and document programs or scripts of medium-to-high complexity using the right standards and tools., Contribute to both backend and frontend development, using technologies such as Java, Python, and React (or Angular/Vue depending on the project)., Systems Design, Translate logical designs into physical designs and produce detailed documentation., Design systems with managed levels of risk and complexity, using appropriate patterns and technologies., Systems Integration, Build and test interfaces between systems, including RESTful APIs and microservices., Work on more complex integrations as part of a wider team., Modern Standards Approach, Apply and promote modern development standards and practices, including CI/CD and DevOps principles., Information Security, Design solutions with embedded security controls and threat mitigation as a core feature., Prototyping, Use a variety of prototyping methods to iterate and establish design patterns collaboratively., Service Support, Help fix faults and carry out maintenance tasks on infrastructure and deployed services., User Focus, Collaborate with user researchers and represent user needs internally., Champion user research and guide others in understanding user stories., Availability and Capacity Management, Manage service components to meet business needs and performance targets.
