About the role:
You will be a part of a team responsible for providing 2nd Level technical application support for a range of Unix-based systems. These systems are mainly Web and API applications developed in various open-source technologies including Unix, Java, Hadoop, Postgres, NoSQL, etc.
In this role, you will be responsible for supporting our production transaction processing systems, which are the backbone of our business and process millions of transactions daily across the globe, including for some of the most prestigious organizations.
Main responsibilities:
- Support and ensure the stability of applications.
- Manage Change, Incident, and Problem according to project guidelines.
- Participate in change planning, deployment, and review.
- Perform proactive maintenance activities, engage in automation activities, and conduct root cause analysis and remediation.
- Write and maintain scripts to monitor system functionality and performance.
- Automate multiple manual tasks through scripting.
- Monitor incident queues, troubleshoot issues, and lead conference calls with other groups to mitigate impacts.
- Apply code and operation break fixes and other proactive maintenance activities.
- Evaluate issues reported by clients to provide ongoing solutions.
- Participate in on-call rotation as assigned by the manager.
- Facilitate and attend meetings for Business and IT initiatives.
- Write and maintain programs and scripts to achieve IT objectives.
- Provide extended support if needed and work with offshore teams to facilitate around-the-clock support for applications and services.
Key requirements:
- Proficiency with Unix commands/scripting and exposure to Web/API as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in at least one of the API technologies.
- Experience in supporting Java applications that run in Apache Tomcat , JWS, or similar containers.
- Ability to work fluently on container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes .
- Solid working experience in an application support function in a 24/7 environment, driving high availability on active/active environments.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong automation mindset.
- Good ITIL knowledge in Change Requests, Incidents, and Problem Management, and experience with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow, Remedy, or equivalent.
- Experience planning, deploying, and reviewing changes for critical applications.
- Experience with log analysis tools such as Splunk or equivalent.
- Experience troubleshooting and resolving incidents and conducting Root Cause Analysis.
- Experience supporting distributed systems or microservices.
- Experience with web services such as SOAP, REST, or equivalent and web service testing tools such as SoapUI, Postman, or equivalent.
- High-level Unix operating system commands.
- Hands-on experience with UNIX/Linux operating system and BASH scripting.
- Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, Postgres, or equivalent.
- Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols such as DNS, HTTP, TCP/IP, PKI, SSL, TLS, Digital Certificates, Security Scanning, or equivalent.
- Prior working experience with Card and transaction domain knowledge.
- Knowledge of Python and Perl scripting.
- Familiarity with Big Data technologies like Hadoop, Kafka, and HIVE.
- Bachelors degree in Math, Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
