Project Overview

Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility. This single‑of‑a‑kind opportunity is key to expanding Poland’s nuclear base and building a long‑lasting energy future.

Job Summary

In this role, you will participate in subcontract formation and/or management. Subcontract formation includes leading preparation and review of bid request packages and developing project contracts operating procedures. Subcontract management includes continual progress review, forecasting, and communication amongst stakeholders to ensure the subcontractor effectively delivers their scope of work. Your work will ensure subcontract compliance with project requirements.

Major Responsibilities

• Prepares bidders’ lists and pre‑qualifies bidders
• Forms bid request packages and issues them to approved bidders
• Coordinates bidders’ questions and answers
• Prepares Commercial Bid Summary and recommendations
• Conforms subcontract terms and conditions with the relevant scope of work
• Collaborates effectively with all project stakeholders in development of bid requests
• Navigates complex commercial and technical work streams to develop acquisition strategies
• Directs negotiation in the commitment of subcontracts
• Recommends and secures approvals in accordance with established procedures
• Develops and issues subcontracts and services agreements as assigned
• Prepares subcontract documents for execution
• Manages changes and claims; evaluates and recommends settlement
• Performs contract management activities in accordance with company policies and procedures

Education and Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience, or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Demonstrated experience in both contract formation and management
• Good working knowledge of subcontracting concepts, principles and practices, and techniques for ensuring task completion and subcontractor relationship expectations
• Experience in developing subcontract pricing and payment conditions
• Experience and skill in determining contract price reasonableness
• Working knowledge of change management procedures (RFIs, change notices, change orders, amendments, and claims negotiation and dispute resolution)
• Working knowledge of Bechtel’s Supply Chain Application tool (DSCS)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge of standard computer applications such as Microsoft Office
