Overview
Senior Specialist, Risk & Compliance to support Bain’s External Talent Function (ETF). This role will contribute to the daily execution and continuous improvement of compliance activities across ETF programs, including external talent engagement and primary research. The position focuses on monitoring compliance, supporting operational processes, and helping ensure alignment with Bain’s professional standards and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will assist in compliance assessments, maintain documentation, and help communicate policies across internal teams. This is an individual contributor role working closely with the ETF risk team and cross-functional partners such as Legal, Risk, and Operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Risk Management & Compliance Support — Conduct compliance reviews for ETF primary research and external talent engagements models (e.g., Agency of Record, Employer of Record, Fixed-Term Contract), ensuring alignment with Bain’s professional standards, global regulations, and risk policies.
- Risk Management & Compliance Support — Support the design, implementation, and refinement of Bain’s ETF risk management framework, with particular focus on operational, financial, and reputational risk.
- Compliance Monitoring & Audit — Support compliance audits, policy reviews, and documentation updates across ETF programs.
- Compliance Monitoring & Audit — Review and assess select primary research outputs to ensure compliance with Bain’s professional standards, applicable law & regulatory requirements.
- Compliance Monitoring & Audit — Ensure accurate tracking, reporting, and maintenance of compliance documentation for internal and external audit requirements.
- Compliance Monitoring & Audit — Partner with data security and IT teams to ensure compliance with data privacy and protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
- Policy Development & Training — Codify best practices for external talent compliance and primary research risk management.
- Policy Development & Training — Maintain training programs for ETF and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Policy Development & Training — Support team-wide efforts to update policies, process documentation, and guidance materials to ensure clarity and accessibility across the organization.
- Policy Development & Training — Support incident investigations, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
- Policy Development & Training — Coordinate responses to compliance-related incidents, including engagement with internal legal and risk teams.
- Stakeholder Engagement — Serve as a trusted advisor to ETF leadership, providing compliance guidance on complex or high-risk engagements.
- Stakeholder Engagement — Work closely with Bain’s legal, compliance, risk and innovation functions on related topics and initiatives.
- Stakeholder Engagement — Provide specialized knowledge by translating complex compliance requirements into actionable, business-oriented advice.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Finance, Risk Management, or related field. Advanced degree or certifications (FRM, CCEP, CAMS) are an advantage
- Experience: 2-4 years of professional experience in risk management, compliance, or legal roles within consulting, financial services, or professional services. Experience across multiple jurisdictions is an advantage.
- Knowledge: A good understanding of compliance and regulatory frameworks
- Analytical Skills: Proven ability to analyse complex information, identify risk exposures, and recommend solutions.
- Communication: Clear written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate technical compliance issues into clear, actionable guidance.
- Collaboration: Demonstrated experience working cross-functionally with legal, compliance, and business teams in a global environment.
