Engineer, Tech Risk Platform - Role Overview

About the Role

This role is an integral part of the Risk Technology team at Balyasny Asset Management (BAM). You will be responsible for building and maintaining large-scale, cloud-native distributed systems that support critical risk-related functions. These functions include:

By joining our team, you will contribute to the development of next-generation risk analytics, expansion into new asset classes, and the overall growth of BAM. You will collaborate closely with Risk Managers, Portfolio Managers, and Senior Firm Management to create technology solutions for market modeling, risk analytics, P&L calculations, and large-scale data management.

Key Responsibilities

• Design & develop high-performance, scalable software solutions for risk management.
• Work with big data & distributed systems to handle complex financial data.
• Develop market risk models, VaR/Stress calculations, and risk analytics tools.
• Automate risk management processes & improve financial data processing.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and drive solutions.
• Work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple time-sensitive priorities.

Required Qualifications

• 8 years of experience in large-scale, high-performance distributed systems (preferably in financial services).
• Strong Python skills, including object-oriented programming, concurrency, and performance tuning.
• Experience with Pandas, NumPy, and data analysis.
• Ability to independently deliver high-quality software from inception to production.
• Bachelors/Masters in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields.
