Senior Software Engineer
Backend / Fullstack (JS/TypeScript) Bitropy builds sovereign AI infrastructure for European companies, helping them deploy and scale AI while staying GDPR & EU AI Act compliant. We’re looking for a Backend Developer to build the core of an AI platform used by enterprise CTOs and engineers. Early-stage startup, real ownership, fast decisions, no corporate layers.
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Engineer who isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty. As an early member of the team, you won’t just be "closing tickets" you will be architecting the systems that power our platform.
Were seeking an experienced engineer who thrives in modern JavaScript/TypeScript environments and has an AI-first mindset. Youll be building scalable backend systems and full-stack applications while embracing cutting-edge development practices, including agentic coding workflows.
You are a builder at heart. You understand that "scalable" isnt a buzzword; its a result of deliberate architectural choices. You are comfortable moving between designing complex database schemas in Postgres, optimizing TypeScript performance in Bun, and building full-stack features in Next.js.
Required Skills & Experience
JavaScript/TypeScript Strong proficiency in modern JS/TS development
Backend API Development Experience designing and building RESTful or GraphQL APIs
Next.js / NestJS Hands-on experience with one or both frameworks
ORMs (Drizzle) Experience with modern TypeScript ORMs, preferably Drizzle
PostgreSQL – Strong database skills with Postgres
Docker – Containerization experience for development and deployment
AI-First Mindset – Enthusiasm for leveraging AI tools and agentic coding practices in daily work
Nice to Have
Kubernetes – Experience with container orchestration and K8s deployments
BullMQ – Background job processing and queue management
Puppeteer / Web Scraping – Experience building automated scrapers and browser automation
Knowledge of the Model Context Protocol and how AI agents interface with systems.
What Youll Do
Solve hard problems wherever they exist., whether thats optimizing an API query debugging a race condition, or setting up a new service.
Design and implement scalable backend services and APIs
Build full-stack features using Next.js and modern TypeScript patterns
Collaborate with the team to architect database schemas and data pipelines
Leverage AI-powered development tools and agentic coding workflows
Contribute to infrastructure and deployment automation
