You will join a long-term project as a Senior SAP ASE Database Administrator, playing a key role in maintaining, monitoring, and optimizing large-scale database environments. The position includes responsibility for on-call support duties, database performance tuning, and future platform migration initiatives from Solaris/Spark to x86 systems.
Senior SAP ASE Database Administrator (On-Call Duty)
Your responsibilities
- Administer and maintain SAP ASE (Sybase) databases
- Monitor system performance and resolve operational issues (using Prometheus, CheckMK)
- Manage replication, integration, and backup servers
- Implement and maintain automated backup and monitoring tools
- Support future migrations from Solaris/Spark to Linux/x86 platforms
- Develop and maintain scripts (Bash, Python, Perl) for automation and issue resolution
- Collaborate closely with a skilled team of system and database administrators
- Participate in on-call duty rotations to ensure system availability
Our requirements
- Proven experience administering large-scale SAP ASE (Sybase) databases
- In-depth knowledge of Replication Server, Component Integration Services, Backup Server
- Hands-on experience with database performance tuning and monitoring tools
- Proficiency in Unix/Linux systems (Solaris and Linux)
- Scripting capabilities in Bash, Python, or Perl
- Basic familiarity with PostgreSQL or MariaDB
- Understanding of configuration management and automation principles
- English proficiency at B2 level
- German language skills
