About Us

Global Debt Markets (GDM) IT supports the Global Debt Markts Business within HSBC’s Markets and Securities Services organisation. The GDM Business are the principle market makers for Credit and Rates products within the HSBC Markets business.   

The Falcon UI is a core piece of the Global Debt Markets (GDM) technology estate and the foundation upon which the GDM Trader Desktop is built. Falcon teams work on nearly every part of the front office application estate from Risk and Trading Booking to Electronic Trading and Market Making.  

The Falcon framework is a state-of-the-art trading and risk application platform utilized across various businesses at HSBC built on HTML5 and React. The framework is designed for scalability, high throughput, responsiveness and availability to meet high standards of the trading desks. Using the latest technologies, applications based on Falcon compete with industry leading solutions in robustness, scalability as well as aesthetics. Falcon applications are quickly evolving at a high release cadence contributed by a large team of developers from across IT.

This role is working within the  Market Securities & Services (MSS) division, specifically within FICC (Fixed Income Currency Comodities) risk for XVA Desk where technology is central to all aspects of our business.

What you’ll do

• Take charge of all aspects of delivering software to users.
• Be accountable for the end-to-end delivery of the project.
• Implement (Code) the assigned modules/tasks and provide technical solutions/designs to the team.
• Liaise with product owners and SMEs for clarity on stories, acceptance criteria and testing scope. 
• Work closely with architecture team to deliver solutions that appropriately address business needs and timelines having futuristic thought process and embedded design thinking.
• Colaborate with different stakeholders from different locations ensuring delivery is at focus.
• Provide guidance to the DevOps engineers on the engineering approaches to implement solution.
• Support during US hours.

What you need to have to succeed in this role

• Bachelors or Master Degree in relevant stream.
• Strong knowledge and hands on experience on Java/Scala, React.Well versed in API integration, Micro Services architecture and development and databases (relational, non-relational) ideally NO SQL Mongo.
• Experience with Messaging Middleware technologies like Kafka/Solace PubSub+.
• Experience in solution design and development on React & Scala applications/APIs and Database,

Proven ability to define and build architecturally sound solution designs.

• Tooling - Hands on experience on Grafana, Jenkins, Git, Stash, Sonar, Checkmarx, Kenna, Clouseau, RocketLauncher, NexusIQ etc.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills as he/she has to work in global environments
• Be strong with basic development engineering concepts and be very hands on with development  – including infrastructure, networking, database management systems, caching, monitoring, site reliability engineering, etc.
• Creation, deployment and registration of new micro-services - experience with DevOps and CI/CD tooling is mandatory.
