Senior Product Designer II, Design Systems
Fairmarkit is the leading autonomous sourcing platform redefining how organizations buy and sell. Reporting to the Product Design team, you will focus on Design Systems and Visual Foundations to create cohesive, scalable, and high‑quality user experiences across all product lines.
As a Senior Product Designer II, you will lead the evolution of our system that powers our product UI, set its direction, drive adoption, and raise the visual and interaction quality bar for the broader product experience.
Why this role matters
Design System is a multiplier for our ability to deliver clarity, trust, and efficiency across every workflow. Your work will shape how fast we ship, how consistent we feel to customers, and how confidently teams build new experiences.
Responsibilities
- Own Fairmarkit’s Design System, defining its future direction aligned with product strategy, customer needs, and scale.
- Lead system roadmap prioritization, identifying gaps, risks, and opportunities to support multiple product teams.
- Own and evolve reusable patterns, creating and refining foundations, components, and complex patterns with thorough edge‑case thinking and clear standards.
- Drive adoption at scale by aligning designers and engineers around system usage, running enablement sessions, and making the system easier to adopt.
- Ensure accessibility and quality by default, building WCAG‑aligned accessibility, interaction states, and responsive behavior into the system from the start.
- Partner deeply with Engineering on parity in code, influencing implementation decisions, aligning on tokens and specifications, and ensuring system quality in production.
- Define and uphold visual standards across typography, color, spacing, elevation, iconography, data‑viz, and UI expression.
- Deliver high‑craft UI for key workflows, leading or co‑leading visual execution on high‑impact surfaces.
- Create scalable visual assets, including icons, illustrations, empty states, and patterns that reinforce a cohesive language.
- Champion consistency and reduce drift by auditing experiences, spotting inconsistencies, and guiding teams toward a unified product feel.
- Simplify complex experiences visually with strong hierarchy and layout thinking for procurement‑heavy, data‑dense workflows.
- Lead alignment across stakeholders (PM, Eng, Design) around clear goals, trade‑offs, and system direction.
- Measure and communicate impact, defining success metrics for system health and adoption (quality, usage, efficiency, customer experience) and iterating based on outcomes.
- Stay close to product problems, ensuring system work supports real, current product needs.
Qualifications
- 7–9+ years of experience designing digital products, ideally B2B SaaS or enterprise platforms.
- Portfolio demonstrating exceptional visual/UI craft and design systems leadership with foundations, components, patterns, documentation, and adoption outcomes.
- Proven ability to set vision and strategy for a system or product area and drive it through ambiguity.
- Strong cross‑functional leadership with Product and Engineering, influencing roadmap decisions.
- Expert Figma proficiency (libraries, components, variants, auto‑layout, prototyping).
- Deep understanding of responsive UI, interaction states, and accessibility.
- Comfort designing for complex data structures and multi‑role enterprise workflows.
- English proficiency at B2+.
Nice to have
- Tokens or coded library experience (e.g., Storybook).
- Enterprise domain familiarity with procurement, ERP, fintech, or workflow‑heavy products.
- UX writing skills and strong microcopy instincts.
- Enablement experience leading workshops, critiques, or trainings to drive adoption.
- Tooling familiarity: Maze, Miro/FigJam, Confluence, Jira, etc.
