Job Description

As a senior plumbing engineer you will lead the full lifecycle of building services projects, from feasibility through to operational phases. You will produce design information, manage engineering calculations, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and maintain client relationships to secure repeat work.

Job Duties

  • Control all production aspects of projects in the office.
  • Obtain necessary information from architects, quantity surveyors and design consultants.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory obligations, submit to authorities, and obtain approvals.
  • Keep the design team fully informed of all technical and other information necessary during the project.
  • Produce design information and prepare all calculations in accordance with relevant standards and codes.
  • Represent AECOM at client, design team and progress meetings throughout the design and construction phases.
  • Act as discipline team leader for building services projects, from feasibility through to operational phase.
  • Manage a team of engineers and specialists; coordinate and support the management team.
  • Prepare and present designs, reports and specifications.
  • Manage design and construction stage activities with both external and internal teams.
  • Contribute to the update of AECOM standards.
  • Deliver, review and approve plumbing engineering calculations.
  • Negotiate additional fees and manage change control.
  • Act as the main point of contact with design teams.
  • Mentor junior staff and promote CPD activities.
  • Manage and build client and architect relationships to secure repeat work.
  • Maintain and enhance expertise within the team and as an individual.
  • Lead our 3D and BIM capabilities in a Revit environment.

Qualifications

  • Degree in plumbing engineering, building services or related discipline.
  • Fluent English (speaking and high-level report writing).
  • Strong knowledge of design software supporting the process.
  • Design license required.
  • Valid driving licence (cat. B).
  • Excellent technical understanding of plumbing building services across sectors, with an overview of other building services disciplines.
  • Significant track record of leading discipline design teams.
  • Senior plumbing or building services engineer holding a senior position.
  • Relevant experience in plumbing engineering design, including specification writing, calculations and first-principles pipe system distribution, control systems, energy calculations and knowledge of overseas codes and practices.
  • Experience delivering conceptual designs through to completion and dealing directly with clients.

Additional Information

  • International working experience and experience in military investment/projects is an advantage.
