Software Architecture Technology Group (SATG) enables Intel’s vision for software and advanced technology by delivering open and secure software platforms, driving industry standards, and ensuring that software is a powerful competitive differentiator for Intel. Within SATG, the System Software Architecture (SSA) team is responsible for enabling Intel’s broad portfolio of products and technologies across Linux ecosystem partners to drive adoption and support via Operating System Vendors (OSVs) and Cloud Service Providers (CSPs). This work involves co-engineering with the Linux community and Operating System Vendors.

The Senior Software Engineer’s task involves, but is not limited to, designing, developing, integrating, testing, validating, and debugging software across multiple layers of the stack including firmware, drivers, operating systems, middleware, frameworks, algorithms, and applications/UI. As part of this process, the software engineer collaborates with architects and engineers across cross-functional teams to deliver an OS Vendor consumable solution for Intel technology adoption.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications are required to be initially considered for this position.

• A Masters degree with 5+ years experience in computer science, Computer Engineering, Electronics Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or any other related field.
• Experience developing Operating System software leveraging open-source technologies and languages.
• Experience with source control (git) to integrate software in various stages of development (backport, debug).
• Self-starter with a growth-oriented mindset who is interested in learning new technologies and making them usable.
• Ability to work and navigate across multiple organizations within Intel and external partners.
• Experience analyzing complex systems and data, providing insights and driving solutions.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills with stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

• Experience contributing to Linux vendor products (RHEL, SLES, Ubuntu) and/or working with associated Open-Source Linux communities (Fedora, Debian, etc.).
• Experience with building and packaging software for downstream use.
• Flexibility working with a wide range of programming languages such as C, C++, Python, or Go.
• Familiarity with CI/CD flows for systems (GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins, etc.) and modern QA practices/infrastructure.
• Experience working with and debugging unstable hardware, identifying system-level issues (firmware, hardware, or OS).
• Experience working in containerized environments like Docker/Kubernetes.
