Customer:

Our customer is a fintech startup, a buy-side financial company headquartered in New York. 90% of the customer’s team members have computer science degree and their CTO managed the technology in the 2nd largest bank in the world.

Product:

Our product is a cloud-native platform that enables our customer to provide their users with cutting-edge security, highly customizable risk management controls, and automated safeguards for safe experimentation in their investments. It includes essential functions such as trading strategy research, portfolio modeling, risk monitoring, trade execution, market data integration, and performance tracking.

Technology:

• Frontend: TypeScript, ReactJS, Jest
• Backend (Microservices): Kotlin, Python, Flask, FastAPI, Docker, Pandas/NumPy
• Databases: AWS DynamoDB, PostgreSQL
• Infrastructure/Pipelines: AWS, Terraform, GitHub Actions

Requirements:

• 5+ years in web application development using Java or Kotlin. Exposure to Python is a big plus.
• Hands-on experience with Gradle, Postgres, Hibernate, Docker, and GitHub Actions.
• Fluent spoken English and readiness to elicit product requirements in voice calls with customers on a daily basis.
• Hands-on experience with the main services of AWS: VPC, EC2, IAM, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, or GCP equivalents.
• Knowledge and understanding of the quantitative finance part of fintech, specifically equities, backtesting, and financial simulations. Actual experience in this domain is a big plus.

How will your work look:

• You will cooperate directly with the product owners to discover the business or user needs to be addressed by the engineering team.
• You will create the technical design for features, modules, APIs, interfaces, and databases using design patterns and document it.
• You will break down the planned work for CI/CD, handle uncertainties, and validate assumptions with the team.
• You will create the solution using trunk-based development and test-driven development, and be ready to iterate daily on its improving together with the product team
• You will demo your solutions to the project team at weekly Show and Tell meetings.
