As a Senior Java Engineering Manager, you will be working for our client, a leading global financial institution undergoing a large-scale digital transformation aimed at modernizing its technology platforms and improving software delivery capabilities. You will be leading cross-functional engineering teams responsible for designing and delivering scalable, secure, and high-performance systems that support critical financial operations. The client is building innovative cloud-based solutions to enhance efficiency, resilience, and customer experience. You will play a key role in shaping engineering strategy, fostering talent growth, and driving continuous improvement across global teams.
Your main responsibilities:
- Driving architecture and delivery of scalable, reliable, and high-quality software systems
- Ensuring best practices in software design, testing, and documentation across teams
- Leading, mentoring, and developing engineering talent through coaching and feedback
- Collaborating with Product and Design teams to define and execute technology roadmaps
- Translating business requirements into actionable technical strategies
- Championing automation, CI/CD, and DevOps best practices to enhance productivity
- Monitoring and improving engineering KPIs and system reliability metrics
- Promoting innovation and continuous improvement in engineering processes and tools
- Managing project timelines, risks, and dependencies to ensure timely deliveryFostering an inclusive, high-performance culture that values accountability and learning
Youre ideal for this role if you have:
- At least 8 years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years managing teams
- Proven track record of delivering complex, high-scale software systems
- Strong technical foundation in modern software development and system design
- Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS
- Familiarity with Java, Spring, middleware technologies (MQ/SQS), and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience leading global or distributed engineering teams
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong ability to make technical and strategic decisions under pressure
- Focus on achieving results and improving delivery metrics such as DORA
- Passion for building strong engineering cultures and developing technical talent
It is a strong plus if you have:
- Experience in a high-growth, product-focused technology environment
- Background in data-driven product engineering and decision-making
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and project management best practices
- Hands-on experience in post-release system support or SRE practices
- Knowledge of emerging technology trends and their business applications
- Proven ability to drive automation and operational excellence across teams
