We are seeking a Senior Java Engineer with experience in Data Engineering to join our team.
In this role, you will be responsible for the successful development and delivery of a division-wide Data Quality technology framework. Your expertise in Java, TDD/BDD, and Spring, web service integration skills, and knowledge of data management standards and data governance practices will be crucial to your success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with data governance leads within the Asset Management Chief Data Office to gather data quality requirements and ensure their successful delivery through technology solutions.
- Manage the development of custom capabilities & workflows within the AM strategic Data Quality solutions, overseeing overall functional design, development, and testing.
- Enable complex integrations between Data Governance platforms and various data sources/systems throughout the division.
- Ensure security, scalability, and business continuity of the data infrastructure.
- Contribute to the build-out of a strategic Federated Data Quality technology solution and its integration with key data sources.
- Design and manage innovative solutions with a strong focus on TDD and/or BDD.
- Develop and maintain web/application development using Java/J2EE, Spring, and web service integration skills.
- Ensure adherence to data management standards and data governance practices.
- Contribute to the development of ETL/ELT workflows and distributed big data processing.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in the data engineering space.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of diverse experience in designing and managing innovative solutions, with a preference for experience in the Financial/FinTech industry.
- Proven experience in Java and a strong focus on TDD and/or BDD.
- Experience in Java/J2EE, Spring, and web service integration skills.
- Hands-on experience with web/application development (HTML, CSS, APIs REST, JSON).
- Knowledge of data management standards and data governance practices.
- Proficiency with relational DBs like PostgreSQL, Oracle SQL, MS SQL, or MySQL.
- Experience in the Data Engineering space, including distributed big data processing, data profiling, and ETL/ELT workflows.
- Bachelors degree in a relevant discipline such as Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in English (B2+ or higher) for effective business communication.
Nice to have
- Experience with non-relational databases and distributed big data processing.
- Experience with Apache Spark or Databricks.
- Proficiency in Python and/or Azure cloud-based technology.
