Job Description

We travel to companies and manufacturing facilities all over the world to carry out risk-based inspections and ensure the integrity of existing certifications — we perform over 3,000 site visits every single day! It could be testing the fire doors at a school, checking a fire truck or even inspecting the New Year’s Eve ball in Times Square. Every day’s different and there’s always a new challenge to face.

Responsibilities

• Performs safety and non-safety certification inspections and field evaluations in accordance with the required performance standards and requirements.
• Uses technical judgment to determine whether noncompliance variations compromise the continued application of the UL Mark.
• Interprets, analyzes and evaluates examination and test results, verifying the accuracy of manufacturers measuring equipment and reviewing production and inspection records.
• Periodically reviews manufacturers programs of production, inspection, and shipping to ensure products are produced and marked in compliance with UL requirements.
• Investigates the misuse of UL Mark.
• Provides general information on policies and procedures for the varied UL services along with promoting and explaining the benefits of new and existing services.
• Uses instruments to perform inspections, such as micrometers, voltmeters, ammeters, and other UL supplied equipment.
• Resolves process, management system and possibly engineering issues associated with Variation Notices.
• Understands and applies HBSE (Hazardous Based Safety Engineering) principles and concepts correctly when necessary.

Qualifications

• Technical School Diploma or College degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering or other related Engineering discipline.
• Relevant experience in performing safety and non-safety certification inspections/audits and/or field evaluations. We are happy to consider more experienced candidates as well as Graduates with 1-2 years of experience (we provide a training program).
• Very good level of English (must have).
• Ability to deal with emergencies in a timely and effective manner.
• Professional attitude and strong customer focus.
• Excellent interpersonal and organization skills.
• Driving license and availability to travel 50-75% of the time.
