Senior ECS / Object Scale Engineer

Location: on-site in Katowice

Job type: B2B (with Hays Poland)

Length: long-term cooperation, first contract for 12 months

Start date: ASAP/1 month Rate: 120 - 160 pln/h (net+vat)

General information:

Senior Role with background on configuration and implementation, focused around ECS and object Scale technologies

Tasks:

• Day-to-day Operations and Health Management
  • Daily/weekly platform health checks
  • Review and tune system performance, capacity, and object protection policies
  • Monitor replication, rebalance, healing operations
  • Assist with upgrades, hotfixes, and firmware updates (customer-approved).
  • Log review, alert remediation, issue triage
• Knowledge transfer & enablement
  • Hands-on training with operations teams.
  • Document daily operational procedures
  • Provide best practices for scaling, lifecycle management, backup, and disaster recovery.
  • Review and refine customer Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

What we expect from you:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar position
• Proficiency in English at B2+ level
• Deep hands‑on experience with Dell ECS and ObjectScale, including:
  • Architecture, deployment, scaling, data protection models, geo‑distribution, erasure coding, causal consistency (ObjectScale/ECS supports active‑active geo‑distribution and erasure coding)
  • Managing distributed, microservices‑based Kubernetes deployments (ObjectScale is container‑based, microservice‑oriented)
• SAN/NAS/Object storage concepts, replication, RAID, snapshots, backup/DR, capacity/performance monitoring
• Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or equivalent stacks (Dell calls these desirable for ObjectScale engineers)
• Incident response, root‑cause analysis for distributed systems
• Nice to have:
  • Higher Education in fields of computer science, mathematics or similar
