Who We Are

We are a remote-first software as a service (SaaS) company, bringing true digital transformation to the global shipping industry. We enhance the way shipping professionals work by creating technology for the maritime industry and bringing it to market.

With over 85% of the world’s trade transported by sea, we have a huge opportunity to transform existing manual, offline and disparate processes into a tech-enabled and data-rich experience enabling better decision-making and fewer costly and time-consuming mistakes. Our premier platform, Sea, is the world’s first digital shipping platform that provides cloud-based applications focused on the pre-fixture and at-fixture space. These connect to create efficiencies and digitise workflows. We are The Intelligent Marketplace for Fixing Freight. To understand more about us, please visit

The Role

We’re hiring a Senior DevOps Engineer to lead the design, delivery and governance of our cloud platform. You will set technical standards, own the reliability and security posture of our environments, and partner with product and platform teams to remove delivery bottlenecks. Your remit spans architecture, automation and incident leadership—raising the bar on how we build, ship and run software at scale.

Our technical stack is primarily ADO, Azure cloud, Kubernetes, Terraform, helm charts, Akamai/WAF but also includes some deprecated on-premise tooling (TeamCity, Octopus).

Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve Infrastructure as Code standards (Terraform, PowerShell) to deliver well-governed, supportable platforms.

  • Co-lead the design and operation of CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps, driving reliability, speed and compliance.

  • Define and govern configuration and management of Azure resources and Kubernetes environments across all stages.

  • Lead provisioning, configuration and maintenance of Azure services (compute, networking, identity, storage), ensuring security, cost-efficiency and architectural alignment.

  • Lead AKS operations across multiple environments: automate deployments, optimise workloads, and maintain high availability and actionable observability.

  • Lead investigations and act as DevOps incident principal on rotation; participate in on-call and drive durable fixes.

  • Produce accurate current documentation (runbooks, standards, reference implementations).

  • Administer and govern ADO and other platform portals (permissions, policies, service connections, auditability).

  • Play an active role in incident response activities, including immediate mitigation, and communicate effectively with stakeholders to manage expectations.

  • Set and enforce platform security baselines and SSDLC best practices alongside senior engineers.

  • Work closely with software engineers and fullstack developers to share knowledge and ensure effective use of DevOps platforms and practices.

  • Design, implement and maintain platform infrastructure, automation and guardrails using Terraform, PowerShell, Azure CLI and Helm.

  • Operate security monitoring and lead response for cloud-native applications.

Requirements

  • Technical Adaptability: While our technical stack and skillset are quite specialized, we place higher value on individuals who show curiosity, passion, and a strong ability to adopt new capabilities, rather than those who simply meet all our existing technical requirements.

  • Flexible and Resilient: We are a developing organisation; team members should be able to adapt and be tenacious when working with others and delivering solutions.

  • Strategic Thinking and Foresight: Able to anticipate future opportunities and challenges, solving immediate technical problems whilst aligning to longer term plans and goals.

  • Commitment and Proactivity: We need a person who can act and shows initiative, and who cares about the development of the platform and product.

  • Openness and Willingness to Cooperate: Our team members work strongly together, are open to help, and are not afraid to ask questions. We need someone who fits into this kind of supportive and collaborative work style.

Core Skills:

  • Significant experience delivering automation at scale as a DevOps/SRE, with infrastructure and pipelines designed for automated testing.

  • Actively expands technical breadth and depth; evaluates and introduces new capabilities, then socialises them across teams.

  • Communicates crisply and collaborates effectively with engineers and stakeholders; influences decisions with clear rationale.

  • Very strong in infrastructure-as-code principles; designs and maintains automation with Terraform, PowerShell and Azure CLI.

  • Architects and governs CI/CD with Azure DevOps (templated pipelines, environments, approvals, security gates, quality checks).

  • Experience with configuration and administration of CDN and WAF technologies such as Cloudflare for optimizing and securing web content delivery.

  • Strong communication skills to effectively share technical knowledge and influence decision making, including the ability to mentor and upskill other team members.

  • Able to lead in setup and support of Kubernetes environments using Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) with tools like Helm, including deploying, managing and troubleshooting Kubernetes clusters and container orchestration in production.

  • Strong command of Azure security controls and best practices (identity, secrets, least privilege, policy-as-code).

  • Proficiency in understanding, designing and managing network configurations that support scenarios involving Azure, Kubernetes, WAF and CDN.

  • Experience in working with or supporting static and dynamic application security testing tooling in the context of CI/CD and secure software delivery.

  • Diagnoses complex issues methodically; isolates components, forms hypotheses and verifies fixes under pressure.

  • Experience with Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SSDLC) in a cloud-first environment.
