Database Design and Implementation: Design and implement Db2 on z/OS databases for clients, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and security. Develop and maintain database designs, data models, and data warehousing solutions.
Performance Tuning and Troubleshooting: Analyze and troubleshoot performance issues in Db2 on z/OS databases, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions. Optimize database performance, ensuring efficient query execution, and minimizing downtime.
Database Administration: Perform routine database administration tasks, including backup and recovery, data archiving, and database maintenance. Ensure database security, compliance, and regulatory requirements are met.
Client project engagement: engage at one or more multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks, and meeting deadlines. Collaborate with clients, project managers, and other team members to ensure successful project delivery.
Create solution blueprint, estimates, gap analysis, and conceptual designs/customer demos as well as provide a post go-live support. Implement solutions within defined architectural guardrails, principles and framework.
Actively involve in customer proposals and support business development activities.
Be the central point of connect across various teams working on the solution – the client teams, IBM, the IBM’s partners.
Act as a mentor to junior engineers and guide them on Db2 on Z.
Wymagania
Extensive (5-10 years) knowledge of Db2 on z/OS, including database design, performance tuning, and troubleshooting, a proven track record of innovation – 3x exemplary projects/creating solution design, estimates, customer demos
Documented experience with database management systems, including data modeling, data warehousing, and business intelligence.
Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and other scripting/programming languages; familiarity with z/OS operating system, including JCL, TSO, and ISPF.
Deep understanding of the Db2 mainframe environment, i.e. SPUFY (System Programming Utilities for z/OS): experience with SPUFY commands, such as SPUFI and SPUFM, for managing and manipulating z/OS files and datasets.
IMS (Information Management System): experience with IMS databases, including IMS DB, IMS DC, and IMS TM, as well as IMS tools, such as IMS DC Utilities and IMS TM Utilities
VTAM (Virtual Telecommunications Access Method): knowledge of VTAM concepts, such as VTAM sessions, LU 6.2, and TCP/IP.
BS. in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience in Computer Science/Information Systems/Engineering/STEM
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
