This strategic initiative is created to enable the change of Volkswagen Financial Services (VWFS) to a data-driven company. Our goal is to empower all VWFS business units to use data effectively, efficiently and compliantly in their business decisions.

D&A originally has been set up as central HQ function located in Germany. To strengthen D&A’s international profile and to cope with the increasing demand for D&A’s services, the European D&A Hub has recently been established in Warsaw, Poland. The teams in both locations work closely aligned to deliver outstanding data products and services for international data use cases at VWFS group.

Data Foundation — About:​

The Data Foundation team makes the company’s data available, and thus builds the groundwork for the efficient use of data by all business units at VWFS. We want to make accessing data feel like shopping at a market: everything in one place, easy to find, and in reliable quality. We cover the entire process from initial data requirements to reliable integrated data provisioning for analytical, administrative, and operational purposes. Data Architecture consults all product teams on how to build and run state-of-the-art data products. By providing standards, guidelines, and tools Data Architects ensure that synergies are leveraged across product teams.

Main tasks:

• Consult and guide Data Foundation’s product teams on the way towards a modern international architecture on a standardized data platform based on the data mesh approach; ensure that economies of scale come into effect​
• Provide architecture standards, guidelines, and blueprints that are innovative yet easy to apply in practice​
• Continuously improve the data architecture by incorporating feedback collected from product teams, internal customers, and data initiatives across all European VWFS entities​
• Provide and maintain overarching Data Foundation tools and processes (e.g., test automation, process monitoring, GDPR management, and data ingestion) according to the requirements of Data Foundation’s product teams​
• Improve the products teams’ time to market by establishing continuous integration and delivery pipelines with sound test automation​
• Continuously train the product teams in applying data architecture’s results to real-world scenarios

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of relevant experience as data architect, software architect, enterprise architect, test architect, or a related role
• Deep understanding of data architecture principles, especially around data mesh, data lakes, data warehouses, and the underlying technologies
• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to articulate technical concepts clearly and collaborate efficiently with various stakeholders
• 3+ years of work experience in implementing a modern data architecture as a requirements engineer or software developer, including hands-on experience with data modeling, ETL processes, and data integration/harmonization techniques (particularly Oracle, SAP BW/4HANA, and Informatica PowerCenter)
• Excellent English language skills (C1 level)
• Very good Polish language skills (at least B2 level)
• Basic project management skills to coordinate cross-functional efforts and ensure timely delivery of architecture improvements and initiatives
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, test automation, and tool-assisted creation of test data
• Ability to work effectively in an agile environment, fostering collaboration across product teams and organizational unit
• Relevant certifications such as ISTQB, IREB, and CDMP are beneficial/nice to have
