We are seeking an experienced Senior Automation Engineer to become a part of a multinational and high‑performance engineering team delivering automation solutions for the offshore energy sector. This role will focus on implementing automation solutions for the energy sector and supporting development, client relationships and project execution strategies. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in process automation, computerized systems validation and project management in the energy sector.
Responsibilities
- Participating in design, development and commissioning of automation systems for offshore deployment.
- Integrating IT and plant automation systems.
- Defining validation programs and strategies for automation systems.
- Identifying and managing technical risks across the projects portfolio.
- Leading overall compliance and quality of projects.
- Supporting interfaces with Client / Vendor on project technical requirements.
- Supporting unit software engineers on problem solving and on expanding technical competences.
- Providing at‑hoc support for fault detection and troubleshooting of control systems operating offshore.
- Co‑operating with multidisciplinary engineering teams (electronics, electrical engineering, hydraulic and systems engineering) to ensure compliance of technical solutions with Client requirements and both company and industrial standards.
- Co‑operating with principal and senior engineers on internal process and procedures standardization and optimization.
- Co‑operating with Project Managers on project scopes and schedule.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Automation and Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering or relevant.
- 7+ years of hands‑on experience in industrial automation, including a minimum 2 years of leading automation tasks within a team.
- Proven, hands‑on experience with multiple automation system platforms including PLC, DCS, HMI and SCADA systems (preferable solutions from Allen Bradley Control Logix, Beckhoff, Siemens S7, Proficy Cimplicity, AVEVA InTouch, Ignition SCADA).
- Proven experience with industrial networks and communication protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, CAN.
- Proven experience with OPC technology and OPC servers in industrial systems.
- Proven experience with virtualization of PC‑based control systems (VMWare vSphere, Microsoft Hyper‑V technologies) is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical, process and instrumentation drawings.
- Effective organizational, time‑management and planning skills.
- Focus on customer service and attention to detail.
- Willingness to travel internationally (up to 15%) including traveling offshore.
- Fluent in English, both verbal and written; knowledge of Polish language is preferred.
Nice to Have
- Good knowledge of cybersecurity aspects related to control and automation systems.
- Experience in leading and executing projects in international and multicultural environments.
- Strong problem‑solving, project management and communication skills.
