  • As a Senior Business Analyst in IT, you play a crucial role in providing strategic business analysis services to PPG’s Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Business Unit.
  • You will work closely with business partners to clarify and communicate business requirements to bridge the gap between technology and business processes. You will help assure IT products and services are aligned with business needs.

responsibilities :


  • Provide strong analytical expertise within the EH&S and Product Stewardship business, frequently leading project teams in the analysis, design, and implementation of technical solutions.
  • Maintain awareness of current IT projects across PPG and planned projects within their own IT group to promote technology and application sharing.
  • Collaborate and frequently lead company customers, staff members, IT colleagues, and other stakeholders in defining detailed customer requirements and system interfaces, assessing available technologies, and developing and presenting viable solution options.
  • Within the EH&S and Product Stewardship function, maintain a deeper knowledge of various business processes used by systems applications and frequently participate in the business support planning process. This may include evaluating software packages and making recommendations to management.
  • Provide technical leadership on one or more projects; expected to give direction to both PPG employees and contract resources (may oversee multiple projects simultaneously).
  • Participate in prioritizing resources and tasks, developing risk contingencies, adjusting project scope, interacting with purchasing/procurement, and providing management feedback.
  • Translate business requirements into software, communications, and equipment requirements (user stories) for application development.
  • Perform and lead feasibility studies, formulate and define application scope and objectives, and implement complete solutions.
  • Propose innovative technical solutions and provide and recommend data security solutions as necessary.
  • Assure business application systems are developed in a way that complies with global architectural standards and established methodologies and practices.
  • Create, modify, and test applications through test plans and test cases.
  • Oversee the creation of system and training documentation.
  • Identify barriers to meeting goals, and proactively provide solutions to keep projects on track and on budget.
  • Respond appropriately to system defects and work with end users and developers to identify and implement fixes.
  • Fully demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and direct others on multiple projects, some of which are outside the area of immediate expertise.
  • Share responsibility with other team members to ensure on-time product delivery, requiring a clear understanding of expectations and capabilities as well as the ability to act effectively as a
  • team member.
  • Display the requisite verbal, written, and presentation skills to effectively articulate ideas / designs to colleagues in multiple functional areas and at varying levels of technical understanding.

  • A four-year degree or higher in Information Systems Management, Computer Science, Engineering, Chemistry, a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience as an IT Business Analyst, Consultant, Application Developer, or related discipline.
  • Experience implementing global ERP systems and/or OTS Product Compliance software (SAP, Oracle, etc.)
  • 3-6 years’ experience writing SQL queries.
  • Ability to work closely with 3rd party vendors to define system requirements and troubleshoot issues with existing software.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including technical writing.
  • Strong coaching skill.
  • Ability to manage application design expectations and project priorities.
  • Can foster and maintain good relationships with customers and IT colleagues to meet expected customer service levels.
  • Ability to act as an effective team member.
  • Must be comfortable working remotely and lack of face-to-face time with colleagues and managers.
  • Ability to mentor and direct others and that you have done so on multiple projects, some of which are outside the area of immediate expertise.
  • Understanding of Agile development processes and other project management methodologies.
