Purpose of the role:
The Senior BI Analyst (Data Engineering) will be responsible for delivering rapid and reliable data products that support business BI demands, driving the roadmap of the BI Engineering team, as well as to serve as the liaison between our team and the Group Data teams.
What’s the job:
- Convert business requirements into technical specifications/analytical requirements and decide timeline to accomplish
- Data products delivered as either completely ‘self-sourced’ solutions for meeting immediate, specific local requirements or as ‘lite’ solutions which build on existing Group data platform (Nucleus) content to deliver new BI capabilities
- Support the evolution of ‘lite’ solution working with Group Data team to transition to fully supported Nucleus solutions where appropriate
- Liaise with Group Technology teams to secure reliable data sources, technologies and tools needed to develop data products
- Continuously review the processes, governance and technology used to manage data from source applications/services to end consumers
- Report progress to senior stakeholders and business sponsors by operating and participating in key steering and governance committees.
- Define best practices in data engineering
- Develop teams and create an inclusive environment where colleagues are inspired and can be at their best
- Partner with the wider business to identify areas where the business can realise measurable benefits from various dataset they currently dont have visibility of
- Proactively drive the Data Engineering vision for the Group BI Team, both for internal and external consumption
What youll bring:
- Excellent Experience of ETL principles
- Excellent Knowledge of data warehouse development and principles
- Excellent Knowledge of Data Engineering Technologies such as SQL Server, Azure Data Lakes, IPAAS, Data Bricks etc
- Experience in a Scripting language such as T-SQL, Python
- Advanced Excel Skills and good knowledge of other Microsoft Office products
- Analytical Minded and Problem-solving Skills
- Excellent Stakeholder Management Skills
- Knowledge of SAP HANA / BW (nice to have)
