Together with our partner, a prominent online fashion & beauty retailer in Europe, we are looking for a Back End Engineer specializing in Search Engine technologies.

You will have the opportunity to play an important role in enhancing our client’s e-commerce platform. Your expertise will be crucial in developing scalable, efficient search functionalities that improve product discoverability and customer satisfaction. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to tackle complex challenges, optimize search algorithms, and contribute to a seamless shopping experience for millions of users.

Responsibilities

• Address catalog intake scalability and performance impediments
• Develop new unified catalog intake for products and other entity types
• Optimize catalog intake for performance and scalability
• Redesign Elasticsearch index structure
• Develop new index structure optimized for further country/language scaling
• Automated re-indexing in cases of index schema changes
• Manage fields to be indexed
• Blue/green deployments of different data sources
• Index streamlining and consolidation

Skills Required

• Experience with Search domain (data indexing and retrieval, index structures, localization)
• Knowledge of Elasticsearch (or similar technologies, like OpenSearch)
• Experience with Scala, Java, or Kotlin (and readiness to work with Scala)
• English: Upper-Intermediate. You should feel confident communicating with English-speaking teams
