At Mobile/XR you will contribute to the transformation of our company, the transport industry and society at large.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Android Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Android application development, a deep understanding of modern development frameworks and tools, and specific expertise in Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Kotlin Multiplatform Mobile (KMM). Mobile&XR team is a very dynamic, open and adaptive team mixing many skills and competences to keep ahead of mobile world changes. We have Developers, IT Architects, BAs, Testers, Support Specialists, Designers & PMs. Most of us working in a couple of roles in the agile way.

We are part of Digital Technology department within  Volvo Group Digital & IT organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain advanced Android applications using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
• Integrate and work with REST APIs, Firebase services, and other market-standard technologies.
• Develop and optimize applications that utilize Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) for device communication.
• Collaborate on projects involving Kotlin Multiplatform Mobile (KMM) to deliver cross-platform solutions.
• Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications by conducting rigorous testing and debugging.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to ensure our applications are modern and competitive.
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to code reviews to maintain high development standards.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in Android development.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin and Java programming languages.
• Hands-on experience with:
• RESTful API integration.
• Firebase (e.g., Firestore, Cloud Messaging, Authentication).
• Jetpack Compose and other modern Android frameworks.
• Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) for device communication.
• Kotlin Multiplatform Mobile (KMM).
• Solid understanding of software design principles, data structures, and algorithms.
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Agile methodologies.
• Knowledge of additional cross-platform frameworks.
• Familiarity with performance profiling tools and techniques.
