Due to continued business growth of our Animal Facility, an exciting opportunity has arisen to be a part of a newly established In Vivo Department in Cracow as a Scientist. In this multifaceted role, you will join a dynamically expanding and collaborative in vivo team dedicated to oncology drug discovery projects. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to apply your theoretical and practical expertise to establish and enhance the newly launched in vivo department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning and executing experiments (including mice handling, injections, blood collections, performing/assisting in: in vivo imaging and biochemical/hematological blood analysis, post-mortem examination and samples collection, etc.)
  • Design and develop disease-relevant in vivo models.
  • In vivo lead for studies supporting pre-clinical discovery and early development projects.
  • Data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Preparation of scientific reports.
  • Preparation of documents for ethical committees and regulatory agencies.
  • Operate diagnostic and imaging equipment.
  • Keep records related to animal care in facility management software.
  • Ensure and monitor animal health and welfare in collaboration with the animal welfare officer by ensuring all necessary requirements for keeping animals in the animal facility having in mind rodent behavior, feeding habitats, enrichments, etc.
  • Necropsy, tissue, and fluid collections.
  • Rodent surgical skills, pre-surgical and post-surgical care, and monitoring.
  • Close collaboration with other scientists and technicians.
  • Supporting drug discovery projects to meet their objectives.
  • Ensuring animals receive care on weekends in accordance with the teams established schedule or in case of unforeseen circumstances.

Your Background

  • Higher education in a relevant field preferably Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology or other related scientific disciplines.
  • Practical in vivo experience and experimental skills in the use of animal models, preferably in the field of oncology.
  • Experience in the drug discovery and development process is desired but not required.
  • Very good level of English.
  • Possess a certificate on carrying out procedures on animals, designing procedures and projects, taking care of animals, and killing animals (FELASA functions A, B, C, and D) that is compliant with Polish regulations. As work on the position requires a certificate mentioned above, the employer will help to get through the procedure to obtain or validate the certificate in accordance with Polish regulations.
  • As a highly motivated, independent scientist - be able to work effectively as part of a team and develop ideas by incorporating the views of others.
  • Possess the following skills: well-organized, precise, task-oriented, and dexterous tinkerer.
  • The highest ethical standards.
  • Understanding of statistical methods, and quality control including data reporting and archiving.
  • Does not exhibit any symptoms of allergies against rodents.
