Purpose of Role
The role will initially report to the Finance Controller Europe, and once the school is onboarded, this position will report to the Chief Accountant – Poland with a dotted line to the School Finance and Operations Director, and to the Chief Accountant – Poland. The role is the school’s main finance contact with these boards.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure general ledger and financial statements are complete and accurate.
- Manage payables, receivables, and invoicing functions, ensuring they are complete, accurate, and fully reconciled.
- Maintain a clear, effective billing and collection process.
- Establish strong controls around credit collections, monitor debtor levels, and proactively discuss with parents to ensure timely debt collection.
- Implement controls for purchasing goods and services, ensuring value for money through procurement policies.
- Maintain the fixed asset register, including acquisitions and disposals.
- Perform general ledger reconciliations, including deferred income, cash, and balance sheet accounts.
- Design and enforce internal controls and policies for all school functions.
- Optimize local cash management.
- Liaise with banks, auditors, legal, and tax authorities; ensure compliance with reporting and tax filings.
- Ensure adequate insurance coverage for the school.
- Collaborate with HR on payroll, performance evaluations, and salary increments.
- Train finance system users to ensure proper and full utilization of systems.
Financial Reporting
- Ensure timely monthly and annual financial reporting, including KPI reports, budget variance analysis, and cash/debtor reporting.
- Develop processes for accurate data collection and review of KPI data related to enrolments and headcount.
Operational & Commercial Support
Support the School Finance and Operations Director or Chief Accountant – Poland with additional responsibilities as assigned.
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
- Several years of accounting and finance operational experience in a commercial environment.
- Strong IFRS accounting knowledge.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills.
- Ability to multitask, adapt to shifting priorities, and work independently.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems.
- Fluent in Polish and English, both written and spoken.
