About The Role

The Role: Research Specialist – Interiors and Lighting (Instrument Panel, Door Trim Panel, Floor Console, Seats, Headlamps, Tail Lamps and Ambient Lighting)

The Team: Within S&P Global’s Mobility division, the Supply Chain, Technology & Aftermarket team is responsible for building, maintaining, and evolving our insights and data assets that provide our client base with intelligence on these critical areas of the automotive value chain. This role will encompass a Europe-based research and remit into the Interior and Lighting Domain, including topics such as Instrument Panel, Door Trim Panel, Floor Console, Seats, Headlamps, Tail Lamps, and Ambient Lighting, with a particular interest in technology development, material choices, and sustainability-related matters.

The Impact: Traditional Interior and Lighting components are changing fast due to electrification, new technology developments, and supply chain disruptions. We are looking for a Specialist to support our research activities, build client relationships, and act as an ambassador for the work of the team in Europe.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct primary and secondary research to build an in-depth understanding of the automotive Interior and Lighting market as it relates to regulations, specifications, and supply chain trends.
  • Reflect disruptive automotive megatrends in the Interior/Lighting industry requirements and technology evolution.
  • Present findings/data via webinars and at conferences/tradeshows/client events.
  • Nurture a network of contacts at automotive companies, both OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers.
  • Respond to client product inquiries and support them with email, telephone, and face-to-face meetings.
  • Involvement in project work, including cross-regional and cross-team projects as needed.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Tier-1/OEM Chassis relevant experience is required.
  • A degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering is preferable but not essential. Business, I.T. or other science-based degree qualifications will be accepted if supported by relevant experience.
  • Proven understanding of current and future trends in the automotive Interior or Lighting industry at the OE level; aftermarket knowledge would be considered a plus.
  • Passion and knowledge of automotive and technology, with proven connections in the automotive industry.
  • Demonstrated analytical and data interpretation skills.
  • Proficiency with MS applications required (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Understanding of database mechanics helpful but not essential; knowledge of basic database management tools preferred (e.g., SQL, Access, Knime).
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of another language would be considered a plus.
  • Strong presentation skills and comfort in client interactions are a plus.
