For our research center in Krakow, we are looking for a Researcher with expertise in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and thermal management.

The research area in which you will work includes the thermal design of the electrical products, analysis and optimization of the manufacturing processes, heat management in the operation of the electrical devices, and other topics related to mass and heat transfer. You will be able to contribute to this development and create cutting-edge solutions.

Your Responsibilities

  1. Participate in research & development projects and lead technical initiatives to provide optimized and innovative design concepts for new-generation products in power systems and green energy solutions.
  2. Conduct thermal-flow simulations, provide results, and formulate clear conclusions and practical recommendations. Report your work and findings in project documentation.
  3. Propose, contribute to, and lead research and development projects for numerical simulations of products for energy systems.
  4. Collaborate globally with Hitachi Energys teams of researchers and engineers to identify, analyze, and solve real-world challenges in optimizing designs for future-generation products.
  5. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the latest numerical analysis technologies, algorithms, and software packages. Recognize opportunities for their practical application in industrial conditions.
  6. Actively promote your knowledge within the company and outside.
  7. Collaborate with local and global external partners, including universities, startups, and vendors.
  8. Disseminate your results in technical reports, scientific publications, research conferences, and patent applications.

Requirements

  1. Master’s or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related fields such as Power Engineering, Physics, Material Engineering.
  2. Strong fundamentals in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, thermal management, dynamic and static analysis, and a basic understanding of typical manufacturing technologies.
  3. Working experience with CAD/CAE modeling and CFD/FEM analysis. Knowledge of the commercial tools (e.g., Ansys Fluent/CFX/IcePak, StarCCM+, COMSOL, CREO, …)
  4. Understanding of phenomena such as natural and forced convection, turbulence models, and radiative heat exchange.
  5. Knowledge about heat generation due to electromagnetic effects (ohmic and magnetic losses) will be a plus.
  6. Skills and experience in programming will be a plus.
  7. Willingness to take an interdisciplinary approach and learn new knowledge when working with experts from different domains.
  8. Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

In addition, the following skills would be beneficial for the role:

  1. Knowledge about power network business, green energy, respective requirements, and industry standards.
