The scientific profile of the position relates to the specialization of the Surface Engineering Department at Warsaw University of Technology. Candidates should have a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in a relevant subject, or an equivalent qualification, as well as a doctoral degree in Engineering Sciences, specializing in Materials Engineering or a related field. Candidate should also have experience of conducting scientific research and leading project investigations into the synthesis of transition metal (-borides, -carbides and -nitrides) films using hybrid magnetron sputtering (HiPIMS/DCMS). Candidates are also expected to demonstrate proficiency in the following research techniques: analysis of the ionization state of plasma in time-resolved mode (mass spectrometry); chemical-phase analysis of thin films (XRD, XPS and Raman); structural-phase characterization of coatings using electron microscopy (SEM, (S)TEM/HRTEM); TEM preparation (FIB); and nanoindentation performance.
