The opportunity

An exciting opportunity to work in EY’s Global Grants, Credits & Incentives team based in Poland, alongside other STEM professionals, as well as tax and accounting colleagues.

As a Consultant or Senior Consultant, you will work with a variety of clients from owner-managed businesses to multinational groups, who are at the forefront of developing cutting-edge technology, helping Germany maintain its market leadership by encouraging investment in research and development.

The successful candidate will work as part of a diverse team of highly successful industry and tax specialists. You will lead interviews with senior technical personnel at our clients across a wide range of industries to identify the scientific and technological aspects of their R&D projects that qualify for R&D tax relief. You will actively participate in writing and reviewing reports on clients’ R&D projects and engage in extensive client communication.

In addition to working directly with existing clients, you will have the opportunity to support business development initiatives and cross-sector claims.

Your key responsibilities

As part of our German Funding Advisory for R&D, Innovation, and Sustainability Incentives team, you will advise clients on public funding for global and local innovation and sustainability projects. You will undertake a wide range of tasks, from project idea development, including strategic considerations for funding, to the preparation of funding applications:

• Advisory services on project design and structuring of funding projects in R&D, innovation, and sustainability at German and EU levels.
• Organization and preparation of workshops and project meetings with clients to analyze related activities and projects.
• Development and writing of application documents for various projects to acquire public funding - fluent in both German and English.
• Development of strategic concepts for optimizing funding strategies and implementing client projects.

To qualify for the role, you must have

• A postgraduate/graduate degree in economics, natural sciences, engineering, political science, public law, or business administration.
• A diverse interest, especially in innovative and technical topics.
• Quick comprehension, comfort with numbers and texts, and a high degree of analytical skills.
• Strong team-player mentality.
• Ability to complete work within client deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills in German (Level C required) and English (both verbally and in writing).

Ideally, you’ll also have

• Relevant previous experience in R&D, innovation, or sustainability, or in commercial and financial structuring, or related to the application and implementation of publicly funded projects.
