R&D Engineer – Dielectric design and integration for transformers and converters

Join to apply for the R&D Engineer – Dielectric design and integration for transformers and converters role at Hitachi Energy.

The opportunity

Join our Next Generation Grids Transformers team in Lodz and shape the future of energy. As an R&D Engineer – dielectric design and integration, you will work on cutting‑edge medium‑voltage transformer and power converter technologies in a dynamic, international environment.

You’ll be part of a collaborative global team, contributing to the full R&D lifecycle—from concept to testing and product launch—and ensuring that our solutions meet both technical specifications and market demands. This role offers hands‑on experience, technical growth, and the chance to make a real impact in the energy transition.

How You Will Make An Impact

  • Apply your knowledge of dielectric design to support innovative medium‑voltage transformer and power converter integration and enclosure concepts.
  • Contribute to all stages of product development from analysis, modeling and simulation to prototype testing and final productization.
  • Organize validation activities of new technologies and products in collaboration with global teams.
  • Align your work with our strategic technology roadmap.
  • Take ownership of work packages and deliver results using a structured approach.
  • Contribute to intellectual property and risk management activities in R&D.

Your background

  • MSc or PhD in Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering, ideally with experience in R&D within a business environment.
  • Good understanding of medium‑voltage transformers and power electronic converter operation as well as dielectric behaviours and standards.
  • Experience with different dielectric mediums (e.g., air, solid (dry), fluid).
  • Good knowledge of FEM modelling SW, such as COMSOL and Ansys; basic mechanical design skills in 3D CAD would be a plus.
  • Strong communication skills in English.
  • Analytical thinking and ability to work independently and collaboratively within interdisciplinary and international teams.

We are committed to full transparency and compliance with all legal requirements, ensuring that every candidate knows exactly what to expect at each stage of the recruitment process.
