To continue driving the DAO strategy and help to meet our board level commitments, we are now seeking a high calibre professional and self-motivated Project Manager to join our Data team.
DAO Project Managers plan, mobilise and drive projects of high complexity and scale from project definition to closure. They are responsible for the end-to-end planning and delivery of projects with multiple workstreams proactively balancing scope, schedule, budget, RAIDs, teams, outcomes, and benefits.
The primary purpose of this role is to be responsible for delivery support within Build Sustainable Capabilities book of work following HSBC Change Framework guidelines and coordinate across teams executing through the AGILE methodology.
The initial assignment will be on the China workstream where the role holder will focus on required capabilities deployment / enhancements.
What you’ll do
- Work closely with the Programme Manager and DAO Portfolio Management team to ensure alignment of their project(s) with the wider change portfolio and DAO Strategy.
- Influence the project approach, building stakeholder buy-in around the project plan, commitments, and changes.
- Lead change initiative(s), establishing robust project governance including clear sponsorship in accordance with HSBC’s Change Framework.
- Partner with Scrum Masters to ensure facilitation of daily standups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, backlog refinement and retrospectives.
- Effectively delivery project, highlighting, escalating, and resolving risks, issues and dependencies and tracking updates. Making recommendations to influence decision-making to maintain progress towards delivery and benefits realisation.
- Proactively manage baselined scope, requirements, benefits, schedule, and budget demonstrating clear ability to deliver to commitments.
- Manage stakeholder and senior management relationships across different markets and GBGFs.
What you need to have to succeed in this role
- Broad and comprehensive understanding of concepts and principles within multiple disciplines or a fast-changing discipline.
- Comprehensive understanding of several value units / products / regions / legal entities, alongside an advanced understanding of the industry and the relative positioning of the HSBCs products and services.
- Management responsibility of multiple teams, through subordinate managers, with accountability for independent budgets.
- Advanced analytical thinking - Problems often require an innovative approach, based on extensive research.
- Proactiveness in developing ideas, continuously searching for improvements in techniques which add value to the business and has full responsibility for implementation.
- Ability to make decisions within the objectives of HSBC global business / global function overall. Little guidance is available and role holder is expected to formulate strategy following the objectives of the business.
- High level of sensitivity to the audience, be able to modify the beliefs and opinions of others and negotiate with significant latitude for the outcome.
