We are looking for an experienced Senior Procurement Trader to manage and grow ferrous and non-ferrous scrap procurement and trading operations in Poland and across European markets. The role requires strong commercial acumen, deep understanding of scrap markets, and the ability to independently execute profitable trades while managing risk and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end procurement and trading of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap, including sourcing, pricing, contracting, and execution.
- Develop and manage relationships with scrap yards, recyclers, processors, mills and trading counterparties across Poland and Europe.
- Identify trading and arbitrage opportunities based on market movements and regional demand–supply dynamics.
- Negotiate commercial contracts covering pricing formulas, volumes, Incoterms, payment terms, quality specs and risk clauses.
- Monitor European and global scrap markets, price indices and regulatory developments.
- Conduct margin, arbitrage and exposure analysis to support trading decisions.
- Share market intelligence, forecasts and strategic insights with senior management.
- Manage price volatility, counterparty risk, logistics risk and credit exposure within approved limits.
- Ensure compliance with EU and Polish regulations, environmental norms and scrap import/export laws.
- Work closely with legal, finance and risk teams on contracts and trade execution.
- Coordinate with logistics, shipping, inspection agencies and finance teams to ensure smooth execution of trades.
- Mentor junior traders or procurement professionals where required.
Key Requirements
- 4–10+ years of experience in ferrous and/or non-ferrous scrap procurement and trading.
- Strong understanding of scrap grades, specifications, pricing benchmarks and European recycling supply chains.
- Proven track record in commercial negotiations and profit‑driven trading.
- Ability to work independently with P&L responsibility.
- Excellent analytical, commercial and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business, Economics, Engineering or a related field.
- MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
- Experience trading scrap across EU, UK, APAC or Middle East markets preferred.
