Overview The Procurement Manager serves as a strategic leader responsible for optimizing vendor partnerships, driving cost efficiencies, and strengthening governance across the enterprise. This role oversees end-to-end sourcing, negotiation, contracting, and vendor performance management through a centralized purchasing process designed to maximize value, quality, and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Lead strategic sourcing initiatives across multiple spend categories to identify, evaluate, and select suppliers that deliver the best overall value.
- Partner with business stakeholders to define procurement requirements, build sourcing strategies, and align vendor capabilities with organizational goals.
- Drive and manage RFIs/RFPs, from scope definition through bid evaluation, vendor selection, and contract award.
Financial & Analytical Leadership
- Conduct total cost of ownership and financial analysis to uncover cost-saving opportunities and supplier performance improvement areas.
- Develop and negotiate complex contracts, including pricing, terms, and SLAs, ensuring risk mitigation and favorable commercial outcomes.
- Serve as the organization’s lead negotiator for strategic supplier agreements, demonstrating a deep understanding of leverage, market dynamics, and cost modeling.
Vendor & Contract Management
- Oversee vendor compliance, monitoring SLAs, KPIs, and adherence to contractual obligations and company policy.
- Maintain a centralized contract management inventory, ensuring visibility, version control, and renewal tracking.
- Collaborate with Risk, Legal, and Finance functions to ensure supplier governance and compliance with corporate and regulatory standards.
Relationship Management & Collaboration
- Act as the primary relationship manager for key suppliers, building strong, trust-based partnerships while holding vendors accountable for performance.
- Provide market intelligence and procurement insights to leadership to support strategic decision-making and category planning.
- Support, but not primarily focus on, procurement efforts for IT hardware, software, and services as part of a broader procurement strategy.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CPSM, CIPS) preferred.
Experience
- 7+ years of progressive procurement, sourcing, or supply chain experience with demonstrated success in complex, high-value negotiations.
- Experience developing and implementing sourcing strategies across multiple spend categories; professional services experience strongly preferred.
- Strong background in contract and vendor management, financial analysis, and supplier governance.
- Experience supporting IT procurement is helpful but not essential.
- Demonstrated ability to build cross-functional relationships and influence outcomes in a matrixed organization.
