As we launch construction on our partner’s Auchans fully automated distribution centre, powered by Ocado’s advanced, AI-driven Smart Platform, we are seeking a Principal Installation Manager. This project marks the next step in the strategic partnership between Auchan and Ocado. Location of project: Wilcza Góra (Piaseczno county).
As a Principal Installation Manager within our Project Delivery Talent Pool, you’ll lead the way in implementing our OSP solution globally. You’ll oversee the installation of grid structures and Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE) for our automated facilities—including CFCs, distribution centres, and warehouses. Your role will involve not only managing the installation but also coordinating with contractors, ensuring safety, quality, and adherence to budgets and timelines.
- Project Leadership: Lead and manage the on-site installation of MHE and grid structures across Ocado’s automated facilities, maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. You’ll represent Ocado on-site, engaging with partners and contractors to keep everything on track.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Be the main point of contact between Ocado, partner teams, and contractors, overseeing a site presence over 9-14 months.
- Process Improvement: Continuously refine installation processes and methods, support planning, and implement improvements to ensure smooth, successful project delivery.
- Safety and Compliance: Define Safe Systems of Work, conduct quality checks, and ensure all health and safety standards are met.
- Problem Solving: Anticipate and resolve engineering challenges, collaborating with product engineering teams as needed to address technical issues.
- Experience managing complex installations, especially in high-stakes environments with large teams.
- Background in mechanical installations of structural steel, pallet racking, ASRS, or similar.
- Familiarity with automation equipment or conveyor systems installation.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and high-risk activities such as working at height or conducting lifting operations.
- Strong contract and project management skills, ideally with a formal qualification and an engineering degree.
- A national or local HSE competency certification to access construction sites.
